November 7, 2011 is holiday in the Philippines (Eidul Adha)

Another long weekend is waiting for Filipinos!

After the All Saints Day four-day weekend, another holiday weekend will greet the country because President Benigno Noynoy Aquino declared November 7, 2011 (Monday) as a regular non-working holiday in the Philippines.

This is according to Proclamation No. 276, signed by the President last Thursday.

The declaration of holiday on November 7, 2011 is for the celebration of the Islamic feast Eidul Adha, one of the greatest feast of Islam (the other one is Eid'l Fitr, also declared holiday last August 30, 2011).

November 7, 2011 is Eidul Adha

The date of the festival based on the declaration made by Saudi Arabia’s highest religious body is on November 6, 2011.

The Philippine’s National Commission on Muslim Filipinos recommended that the observance of Eidul Adha be on November 7, 2011 and the Eidul Adha prayer on November 6, 2011.
